Glossary of Terms Welcome to the Glossary of Terms! Here you will find definitions for terms related to The Weather Channel. Clicker-The device the OCM's hold in their hand to change graphics as they make their presentation. There is also another clicker with which the OCM adjusts his or her height to fit into the screen. Chroma-key or "Green" wall-The wall in front of which the OCM's stand when making their presentation. The maps and graphics are displayed on this screen, but cannot be seen in the studio. The OCM has a monitor on each side of the chroma key, which he/she uses to keep track of where they need to be at a given time. HiRAD-Technology that allows TWC to deliver local forecasts taylored to much more precise areas than was previously possible. Satellite STAR-Refers to the version of the local forecast that satellite subscribers see. Thesatellite STAR does not show local condtions, but rather conditions for all parts of the nation. STAR-The unit at your cable company's headend responsible for bringing you your local forecast. STAR's in use today are the WeatherSTAR's 4000, Jr., XL, and the Intellistar. TWC-Acronym, standing for The Weather Channel.
