I agreed, but it's went downhill when NBCU brought it last November.
NBCU bought TWC from Landmark in July, on the 6th I believe. Nevertheless, I agree too, that they have gone down the toilets, exponentially it seems.

For me, TWC went downhill when they started layout OCM's, shows those annoying Thanksgiving/Holiday Bar, and when they disconuited the old Weather Center (best WC verison ever IMO).

Nope, it was September 12. July was when NBC reached an agreement to buy TWC, but the purchase didn't occur until two months later.

1986 Was The Year That TWC Relaunched With Its Slogan, "You Need Us...For Everything You Do" Which Was Very, Very Excellent.  With The Hiring It's On-Air Personalities, Jim Cantore, Jeanetta Jones, Liz Jarvis And Tom Moore.

1995-1998 gets my vote.  Then ZDtv and Techtv came along and kind of stole my focus from TWC.  When I returned to having TWC on in the background it wasn't the same channel as it was in 1998.

My vote would be the early-mid '90s.  Not high on the bells and whistles, but they presented the weather very well, and that's what they're supposed to do.

I have such a great feeling of nostalgia from when I started watching The Weather Channel in the late 1980s, during the "You need us for everything you do" era.  Those were good days. :)  This was before I was even 10 years old... so I guess my reaction to reading my first-ever tornado watch scroll up the screen wasn't TOO unexpected.  Basically, I was scared to death.  :rofl2:

Oh, those were good days, and the quality of The Weather Channel back then was first-rate.  :thumbsup:  Marney Stanier talking about ceiling fans, Jeannetta Jones talking about different cheeses you can serve, there was another PSA I enjoyed watching, but can't remember...  And those Trane commercials airing every 5 minutes...

Yeah, those were the days!  :D

Hard to choose just one. 1993 & 1995 equally. Also 2002-2003. 1990-1996 would be my favorite period of time.
