WeatherSTAR Tech Support / LDL glitching on STAR #23550
« on: March 24, 2013, 04:57:05 PM »
Hi STAR team

The programming LDL on my IntelliSTAR has been glitching as of this morning, and continues to do so even as I speak. Each time during live programming, a second LDL has been cuing behind the glitching one. No problems on the main IS unit itself, however. Here is a video clip that I caught of the glitch this morning:

TWC IntelliSTAR LDL Glitch- Astoria, OR- March 24, 2013

The cable provider is Charter, and the ID number is 23550.

Can this be looked into?

Jim

Normally I loathe all TWC long-form programming   but I just had to share this.

http://www.chinookobserver.com/news/local/tv-taping-show-on-nw-coast-guard/article_386ff24a-90e7-11e2-926c-001a4bcf887a.html

According to the Chinook Observer, a local newspaper in my area, it says TWC is going to film a new installment of the "Coast Guard" series, called "Coast Guard Northwest." The film crew is going to be in my area for about a year to film 13 episodes for the new show. More info on this show should develop in the coming months.

Programming and Graphics / Deadliest Space Weather
« on: January 10, 2013, 10:13:14 PM »
There was no topic so I figured I'd start it off...

So I watched the show during the entire 6PM PT hour, and IMO I thought it was a pretty interesting show compared to the other so-called "weather" shows on TWC. Similar in show format like "It Could Happen Tomorrow," there were various people talking about what would happen if some of the deadliest weather outside of our planet occurred here. I would probably watch the next new episode next Thursday or whenever it comes on if you ask me

But enough about my thoughts. If anyone else saw the show, what were your thoughts on it?

Today, my girlfriend and I went up to Aberdeen just for the day, and we went to a thrift shop called "Thrift City." There at the store we saw some old TV sets, and on one of the TV sets, it was tuned to a local TWC feed. Because I saw a local city name on the programming LDL that appeared the second I layed eyes on the TV, I knew almost immediately that the local cable company that served the Aberdeen area (which I found out later that it was Comcast) uses an IntelliSTAR unit on their headend. I wasn't really expecting to find a TV tuned to TWC at the store, but it sure was a lucky coincidence for me  B)

As I watched two LFs respectively, here is some information that I discovered about the STAR unit:

  • The STAR's observation site is Aberdeen, WA
  • The STAR unit type is the IntelliSTAR
  • The STAR's ID number is 22286
  • The cable provider on which this STAR is seen on is Xfinity (or Comcast)
  • The channel number on which TWC is viewed on in the area is 78

And on top of that, I was able to take 4 pictures of the STAR on a TV set at the store with my camera (see attachments below.)

Note: Sorry about the black bars that appear in my photos. That always happens when you try to take pictures of a TV set with a typical camera  :P

General Discussion / Comedian Phyllis Diller dies at age 95

She did a lot of comedy work, and she was also known for her cackle laugh. The only times I've known her voice for was the queen ant in the animated movie A Bug's Life, as well as the voice of Peter Griffin's mother on Family Guy. RIP Ms. Diller  :(

Not sure if this was the correct place to ask for help, but I'm having a little trouble with importing WTV (Windows Recorded TV) video files into Windows Live Movie Maker. I've provided snapshots under the attachments section of this post to better understand what I'm having trouble with here.

First, after I imported the WTV file, WLMM says it's trying to prepare the video for improved playback performance (see screenshot 1 for reference.) But after a few seconds later, it stops, and the video clip shows a yellow ! box (see screenshot 2 for reference.) Afterwards I right-clicked on the video file in the WLMM preview section, and then clicked on the first option, "Fix clip." A window popped up and says that the video file may be corrupted or in a format the program doesn't recognize (see screenshot 3 for reference.)

For some reason, the WTV videos that were recorded in SD worked okay when they were imported, but it's the clips recorded in HD that ran me into a brick wall. Anyone here have any suggestions on what to do that I might be able to give a shot at?  :dunno:

Didn't see a topic similar to this one, so I thought I'd start it off.

What is your favorite scene and/or quote from any current or former TV show, whether it's live-action or animated?

One of my favorites is from the Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror V" episode, where Homer has this toaster which is a time machine, and in one scene, he is in a world where he and his family are wealthy. He asks Marge to pass him a donut, then Marge responds "Donut? What's a donut?" Homer then screams in horror, then runs back to the basement and goes back into time again. As soon as he left, it started to rain donuts in the world which he left. That scene was a classic to me

Local Forecast / What songs do you want to hear on the LFs?
« on: July 10, 2012, 12:51:50 AM »
Didn't see a topic so I'd thought I start it off.

I've already made a topic about songs you'd want to hear again on the LFs, but what about the song(s) that hasn't aired on TWC yet you would like to hear on the LFs someday?

For me, "Spanish Flea" by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass would definitely fit it. I have used that song for my TWC emulator a couple of times.
