I've been trying to get Wintv 6 + 7 to work on my acer laptop but the video/audio is excessively skipping then freezes my computer, please help and when i try to lower the hardware acceleration the option is greyed out. :(

here's what it look like in action

I don't know why, but I've always heard a lot of complaints about WinTV for some reason.  Hopefully, someone else here will be able to answer you, Alex.  I've never used WinTV, but I do wonder if you're using a 32-bit or 64-bit application as you mentioned that you have the 64-bit version of Windows 7.

Alex, can you provide other specs about your computer such as the RAM? It sounds like it's using up too much memory.

Try using Windows Media Center.  Works so much better than WinTV - I'm currently using a Hauppauge card in 7 Media Center with absolutely zero problems.

For whatever reason, I have had issues galore with Windows Media Center. Keeps freezing up on me, and I can't get any recordings through it.

Ram : 3GB

Hard Drive 160GB

Processor (GHz) 1.6

here's the full list

Same deal happens in WMC :(

Also i found this one if the problem ends up being the laptop itself, i'm thinking because of the slow processor the memory is being eaten up faster

The fact that it's a single core processor of only 1.6 GHz, that may be the reason. There's plenty of RAM in there (my desktop with only 2 GB handles the tuner well). How old is your Acer?

It does sound possible that you might need a faster processor, but I still find it odd that it's a brand new laptop and you're having this much trouble.

@Tyler, I'm surprised that TWC hasn't laid the smack down on them, unless they got the rights to that track somehow, or TWC just never knew...

Stephen Arnold Music has two versions of that track. One that is just a standard production piece (the one used in that WTAE promo), the other one is the TWC version that has the TWC signature chime in it.
