I really like the 30th Anniversary images on weather.com, especially the ones showing the logo progressions and the different slogans.

And I had no idea there were so many different logos.  In fact, according to the image (though the '80s logos looked very similar and only had slight modifications to them), the present logo has been used the longest of any logo that has been used at TWC.  So for those of you who thought a logo-change was ridiculous, you may want to think again. ;)

I'm also recording the whole thing except in the morning. ;)

Am I the only one not seeing a 30-year design on weather.com? :dunno:

Zach, what 30-year design are you talking about? :dunno:  From my understanding, the new design was supposed to launch today in honor of their 30th anniversary, but I don't recall there being plans for a 30-year design, whatever that means.

You missed GTAIVman's post ;)

I really like the new 30-year anniversary design on weather.com. Very neat and great site architecture. It's very organized. Good job TWC

My mistake. :itsok: I guess when I said "30-year design", it might have confused a few. I called it that because it was released today on the 30-year anniversary.

I noticed that the Local Forecast used backgrounds (the first LF ever used a shot of what appears to be their meteorologists working or something), and screen shots from promos about the Weather Star display the Local Forecast somewhat differently than we are used to remembering from the original Weather Star: It displayed the main text of the current screen superimposed over the national feed (similar to the backgrounds used from 1986—1987), with a blue LDL spacer at the bottom. The "satellite LF", at least in this video, seems to consist mainly of montages of photographs.

That's something I thought was interesting about the video myself.

My favorite part of this video is at 0:28, when they are interviewing someone (I think he's famous, but I don't recognize him :blushing:).

Interviewee: "But I don't watch [The Weather Channel] for the weather..."
Al Roker: "Then what DO you watch [TWC] for?"
Interviewee: "The news...and the sports."

Watch the person be really famous and I don't even recognize him. LOL. How embarrasing.

That's Will Ferrell. He starred in comedy films such as Blades of Glory and Step Brothers.

I thought that was him...but I wasn't sure. Boy, do I feel stupid now. He has aged, however.

Does anyone know the music that is used in that video?  It's probably some random production music, but it's pretty catchy.

I was a 4-month old baby at the time of TWC's debut 30 years ago, since I had just been born that previous December. I have been a fan for 23 of these 30 years.

I know that Bruce Edwards (Kolowinski) and Andre Bernier were very nervous when they first went on the air 30 years ago last night.

I have been following TWC for 17 years. The first TWC song I remember hearing was All In One Night by Kenny G.
Hakeem: What's up, Jetsons!
Frank Mitchell: Jetsons?
Hakeem: Yeah, you and George got the same haircut.
